If you’re not scared ****less, you’re not aiming high enough
I often use this idea as a barometer to test the ‘rightness’ of something. Does it excite me? Does it make me weak in the knees? I may not be scared &*(#less, but I ought to at least be thrilled. If what I’m doing doesn’t push me out of my comfort zone at least a little, then I haven’t set the bar high enough for myself.
It’s these moments of trembling, when I step into new territory, that ultimately stimulate my growth. When I studied acting years ago, we were taught how to take that fear and anxiety and channel it into excitement. That level of throwing ourselves out there into the universe is what big moments are made of – the moments that change us and alter the course of our lives forever.
It’s in these moments we are reborn – transformed at a quantum level. Life is best, at its most acute, when we recognize the power of these moments to alter our course. We rise up to meet a challenge, dare to go for something we really want. The art and skill of living an extremely fulfilling life lies in the acted upon courage of such moments.
Science has already documented the reality of the ‘quantum leap’ – the moment where we seem to transcend time and space and leap forward into a new dimension. The popular and scientific terms are similar in that both describe a change that happens all at once (revolutionary), rather than gradually over time (evolutionary).
According to Dr. Bruce Lipton, a forerunner in the field of cell research and quantum growth, the way we interact with our environment directly affects the activity of our genes:
"This new perspective of human biology does not view the body as just a mechanical device, but rather incorporates the role of a mind and spirit. This breakthrough is fundamental in all healing because it recognizes that when we change our perception or beliefs we send totally different messages to our cells, causing a reprogramming of their expression. This explains why people can have spontaneous remissions or recover from injuries deemed to be permanent disabilities."
As a coach, I encourage quantum leaps. Growth can happen fast. If you want it to.
“Gather all your courage - Throw yourself into his bed!
He will probably kill you.
Fantastic - That's the whole idea."
