Dr. Crysta Serné, BSc(Kin), DC, Chiropractor and Sports Therapist*

A former national level gymnast, Dr. Crysta Serné has developed a keen interest in sports injury rehabilitation. It was during this time that she was first introduced to the powerful effects that chiropractic care has on athletic performance and injury prevention. While earning her degree in Kinesiology and studying Biology and Psychology at Simon Fraser University, Dr. Serné had the opportunity to work with numerous varsity athletes under the direction of several health care practitioners. It was at this time that she became committed to learning all that she could about chiropractic care. Combining Chiropractic and Sports Therapy has allowed Dr. Serné to find great success treating neuromusculoskeletal complaints and pain, both acute and chronic.   


Dr. Serné graduated from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College as a Doctor of Chiropractic. She is a licensed member of the British Columbia Chiropractic Association and the BC Chiropractic College. Currently, Dr. Serné is the head trainer at Burnaby Lake Rugby Club and is also involved with the Harbour Dance Center.  


Dr. Serné welcomes both returning and new patients.

Bev Spidle, Registered Massage Therapist

Bev Spidle, Registered Massage Therapist studied at the Okanagan College of Massage Therapy, completing the comprehensive 3000 hour program. The three year program involves full knowledge of Human Anatomy and Physiology, Orthopedic testing and Assessment, Pathology and Therapeutic exercise. Hands on training included, Swedish, Neuromuscular Therapy, Connective Tissue manipulation, Muscle Energy Technique and Rood Technique (for the neurologically impaired). Bev’s massages interests are working with athletes and clients with neurological problems of all ages.


Bev welcomes both returning and new clients.

Brittney Kirton, Wellness Coordinator and Registered Holistic Nutritionist

Brittney Kirton graduated from The Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and joins the Vitality Clinic team as one of our Wellness Coordinators as well as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. One of Brittney's many roles is to coordiante health talks, lunch 'n learns and she is still involved with the front desk.


As a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, Brittney can help educate clients on disease prevention, tools for optimum health and reducing a wide variety of symptoms. Brittney believes that most chronic illnesses stem from improper digestion and malnutrition. She is specifically interested in allergies and digestive ailments. As a new addition to the clinic, Brittney aims to work with hopeful mothers seeking information about pre and postnatal health. Brittney is available for group learning sessions and grocery store tours. As a former competitive dancer, this is where Brittney developed a passion for achieving wellness through allopathic medicine. She is devoted to learning and furthering her studies in Holistic Health.

Dr. Paul Fleming, Chiropractor, BSc, DC, A.R.T

Dr. Paul Fleming graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College as a Doctor of Chiropractic. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Victoria. Dr. Fleming was the recipient CMCC Students' Council leadership award for his contribution to the student body. Dr. Paul Fleming is also an Active Release Therapist. He believes in an active approach to health thereby restoring the body's natural ability to heal itself.

He is an active soccer player and skier and holds a black belt in Renshikan Karate.

Dr. Fleming is a licensed member of the British Columbia Chiropractic Association and the BC Chiropractic College.

Dr. Heidi Rootes, Naturopathic Physician and Certified Prolotherapist

Dr. Rootes began her undergraduate education at McGill University but returned to school and received her medical training at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine.  Dr. Rootes is able to develop an individual treatment plan for each person, while educating them about health and wellness thus empowering people in their own healthcare. Her practical experience and training include intravenous and injection therapies with a specialization in prolotherapy and neural therapy, Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, classical and complex homeopathy (including biotherapeutic drainage), botanical medicine and lifestyle counseling. As a certified prolotherapist, Dr. Rootes has great success treating pain related conditions both acute and chronic. She offers full lab services, allergy testing, digestive and endocrine panels (including thyroid, adrenal, and female hormones), and heavy metal assessment. With all these tools, Dr. Rootes offers a complete system of analysis and care. Kim Anami, Personal Life Coach

Kim is passionate about growth and transformation. She is an adventurer, having lived and traveled all over the world as an entrepreneur, freelance writer and surfer.

As a life coach, Kim works with you to create the most ecstatic and fulfilling life, you can imagine. Sammie Broomhall, Reception

Originally from the Sunshine Coast, Sammie moved to Vancouver after graduation to pursue a career in dance. She started by training at Harbour Dance, as part of their Intensive Training Program. This allowed her to both further her training in all styles of dance and familiarize herself with the Vancouver dance scene. It was also at this time that she was introduced to Dr. Crysta Serné and her involvement with Harbour Dance. Since 2008, Sammie has since been dancing with The Source Dance Company where she has been afforded the opportunity to work with numerous amazing choreographers as well as the opportunity to perform throughout B.C. and the U.S.A. Outside of work and dancing, Sammie enjoys teaching various forms of dance to both adults and kids of all ages.

Being a dancer and an athlete, Sammie appreciates all forms of therapies designed to improve and enhance an individuals health and performance. Her interest in the benefits derived from the services provided here at Vitality Clinic has lead to her association with the Vitality Team.

Laura Hussey, Wellness Coordinator

Laura recently graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree and is also the holder of a Theatre Arts diploma from Grant MacEwan College. She has been actively involved in the Arts for the past ten years of her life and with a passion for the Arts, comes a deep appreciation for the human body and its overall well being. This appreciation has drawn Laura to atmospheres that support the treatment and maintenance of one’s health.

Laura has worked as a Chiropractic Assistant in Lethbridge, AB as well as an administrative assistant in a medical clinic in Yellowknife, NT. Laura now joins the Vitality team with great confidence in the quality of treatment that it offers its patients and looks forward to seeing you at your next appointment!

Brad Neate, Registered Massage Therapist

Brad Neate, RMT is recent graduate from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy. He believes in an individual approach to treatment and develops a plan according to the patient’s needs and wants. Brad’s intention in treatment is to unwind and release myofascial restrictions in order to create more space for movement and proper function. His main goal is to facilitate the body’s natural healing process and return the patient to a pain free lifestyle. He utilizes techniques such as; Trigger point release, Joint mobilizations, Myofascial release, Swedish and active stretching to obtain these results. Brad has treated many conditions some of which include; whip lash, frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel, thoracic outlet syndrome, sciatica, and general neck and back pain.

Before massage therapy Brad was a licensed paramedic and ski patrol in Kimberley, BC. His passion has always been in health care and Massage Therapy has given him the opportunity to treat clients on a more personal level, and to be active in their recovery and healing.

Brenda St. Louis

Brenda has been a practicing Massage Therapist for over 15 years now and continues to add more tools to her kit of possibilities. She is fascinated by how brilliantly we can twist and turn our bodies out of ease. She knows the benefits of both deep tissue and the sublties of cranial sacral therapy. She sees the body as a whole; both the being and the body contribute to health and wellness. Her approach to the body has always been multi-faceted Brenda has had years of experience working with athletes, especially dancers and runners.

After graduating in Ontario in 1996 from the D’arcy Lane Institute , she continued her education with numerous other modalities: Upledger’s Cranial Sacral Therapy, St. Johns’ Neuromuscular Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage, Myo-facial Release and Access Energy Techniques. Brenda is a consummate traveler and has lived and traveled in Asia for over 6 years. She has explored the numerous healing arts throughout Japan, Korea, India and Thailand, adding to her tool kit of healing possibilities along the way.
